Treats for Different Purposes

Having the right dog treat can improve training, reward good behaviour, or give your dog a much needed distraction.

In terms of training, treats should be small and fast for your dog to consume. Spending too long enjoying the treat would distract them from the training! This is in contrast to a reward treat which is generally a little larger or longer to consume. Reward treats can often be broken into smaller pieces though if used for training. Finally distraction treats such as bones, chews, and sticks will take your dog a longer time to consume. These treats can be used to distract/reward your dog and keep them from chewing your wooden or leather furniture. Distraction treats such as raw hide have shown to provide dogs stimulation and help relieve anxiety.

So keep the purpose of your treat shopping in mind when browsing, as treats are one of the best ways to build a strong bond between you and your dog.
