To train a dog to play fetch , start by having your dog sit or lie down. Then, show your dog the toy and say "fetch." Throw the toy a short distance away from you. Once your dog brings the toy back to you, give him a treat. With some practice, your dog will learn to fetch the toy every time you throw it.
